The World’s Greatest Shave is coming to Gramercy Bar & Kitchen this Thursday, 11 March, to help raise support and boost awareness for blood cancer in Australia. Each day, an average of 34 Australians are diagnosed with some form of this disease. By taking part in this important event at one of the best bars in the city, you can directly help those people benefit from better research and stronger support systems.
What is the World’s Greatest Shave?
The World’s Greatest Shave is an Australia-wide event that takes place every March. More than 150,000 people take part by seeking sponsorship in order to have their hair shaved or coloured in support of Australians who have been diagnosed with blood cancer.
The proceeds that they raise are used to fund cancer research. This is essential in discovering more effective ways to treat blood cancer. As more people take part in this incredible event at small bars in Perth and other venues, more money can be raised to developer kinder treatments for blood cancer.
But that’s not all. Proceeds from the World’s Greatest Shave also have a direct effect on those who are currently living with blood cancer. Sponsorship helps to support families where they need it. For example, it provides those seeking treatment with a home-away-from-home that is near their treatment centre.
Finally, the World’s Greatest Shave also supports patients who require transport to and from appointments. As the Leukaemia Foundation receives no ongoing government funding, support like this is essential for those receiving treatment. And it wouldn’t be possible without the support of people who take part in fundraising events like this.
How You Can Get Involved with the World’s Greatest Shave
There are two ways to get involved in this event – get shaved or sponsor someone who is. Most people choose to either shave their head or colour their hair. However, some participants choose other avenues. For example, men might shave of their beard, or women might choose to wear a wacky wig for the day. Hair colouring is also an option.
On Thursday, the Gramercy Bar & Kitchen team is joining forces with the employees of Central Park Building in support of the World’s Greatest Shave. You can help support this initiative by stopping by one of the best bars in Perth in the afternoon (between 1:00 and 3:00 pm). Your mere presence helps to boost awareness of this important cause, while donations are used in support of those with blood cancer.
And of course, you can always take part in the event yourself. Get started by signing up for the World’s Greatest Shave on their website, and then come out to Gramercy Bar & Kitchen on Thursday to take the challenge yourself.
Whether your choose shave your head, colour your or sponsor someone else involved in the event, we genuinely hope to see you on Thursday.
