The Gramercy footy tipping competition is going strong. We’ve all been watching closely with everyone wanting to get a piece of the action aiming to be in the number one spot at the end of the season.
For those of you that don’t know, footy tipping is a great way to get more fun out of the AFL. During the season, you make tips on every game that’s played. You have to decide which team will win or if it will be a draw. You get a point if your tip is correct and you can get bonus points if you guess the margin on the first game. As with most games, the person with the most points wins. After each game day, there will be a weekly winner announced. The competition ends when the AFL season is over, and there is no more footy to enjoy. When this happens, all of the scores are calculated to find the overall winner. It’s fairly straightforward and makes the bar atmosphere even more electric on game day. Okay, now that the boring stuff’s been explained, we can have a look at how things are going so far.
It’s far to say that the competition is heating up fast. Current leader Roo Boy reclaimed his crown after being pipped for a week. But, anyone that knows Roo Boy will know that he doesn’t give up easily! Back in the lead and back as the man to beat. But, will he still be smiling in first position after this week’s games?
The reason footy tipping is so fun is because it’s an unpredictable game. On the face of things, it may seem easy to tip how a match goes. However, sport rarely goes how we think it will. So, it’s no wonder that we haven’t seen a perfect score in our tipping competition yet. You never know when someone is going to cause an upset, and turn a round-winning tip into a disaster. Everyone is probably looking at the Hawthorn – Carlton match as a straightforward big win for Hawthorn. They’re in great form, and Carlton hasn’t won in five matches. But, could this be the biggest potential upset of them all?
All I’m saying is that there’s bound to be an upset or two this weekend, and I’m looking forward to seeing some bold predictions. Can someone knock Roo Boy off his perch again? Or will the tipping veteran dominate once more? All these questions will be answered over the weekend in our bar, with plenty of beers! Come down to Gramercy Bar and join in on the fun.
