The Gramercy footy tipping competition continues to grow bigger, stronger and more hotly contested by the day. With the regular season wrapped up on the last weekend of August (Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August), we’ve now got a month of footy finals to look forward to with the 120th AFL Grand Final being held on Saturday 1st October.
In the Qualifying Finals we’ve got the Cats up against the Hawks at the MCG and the two Sydney teams, the Swans and the Giants, battling it out at ANZ stadium, while in the Elimination Finals it’s our boys, the Eagles (who’ve won their last four games), at home here in Perth against the Bulldogs and the Crows also at home against North Melbourne.
There’s sure to be an upset or two on the day of the final, but there will also be an infectious vibe, plenty of drink specials, nibbles and prizes to look forward to and, of course, the almighty showdown between the two teams to see who will emerge victorious with the AFL Premiership Cup and Premiership Flag at the MCG – Australia’s sporting colosseum.
Great Vibes
The AFL Grand Final has rightly been called Australia’s most important sporting event by the Sweeney Sports Report, one which has spawned a number of traditions, including the grand final parade which features players from both teams and has been celebrated since 1977.
Last year a record crowd of 150,000 attended the grand final parade in Melbourne and this year should see similar numbers. Although we’re all the way over on the other side of the country there will still be big celebrations across Perth and here at Gramercy, with a great vibe throughout the day, so come along and join us in the celebrations as the AFL’s two top teams battle it out.
Nibbles, Drink Specials and More
With daily drinks specials, a great range of craft beers on tap, friendly staff who know all our regulars’ names and a view overlooking the only park in the city, every day is a great day to spend at Gramercy, but when the footy final is in full swing, the drinks are going down even better than usual and a great range of nibbles are on offer for all, where better to watch the 120th AFL Grand Final on Saturday 1st October 2016? We’re excited and so too should you be!
Footy Tipping Winners Announced
While everyone is guaranteed to have a blast on the day, our footy tippers will be having an even more special day, and yes, we’re expecting a few surprises, a few disappointments, a lot of cheering (and the inevitable bit of moaning), but it’s going to be a great time for all involved.
